Joint Venture Agreement

Wilson Memorial General Hospital and The McCausland Hospital entered into a formal Joint Venture agreement in June 2008 which became the framework toward integration. In the fall of 2008 both facilities held community strategic planning session in order to seek input on future direction. By January 2010, the hospitals had joint vision, mission, values and strategic directions in place. The organizations have been working together to identify, implement and operate various integration initiatives. The purpose of these initiatives is to enhance healthcare delivery and to develop innovative solutions for the local health care system.

Combined Board Structure

To develop a format for holding joint Board meetings, with the intention of a future combined Board structure which maintains facility independence.

Establish joint board meetings in 2009/10.
Investigate alternative Board structures
Recommend to each Hospital a future Board structure

Establish dates for joint Board meetings
Investigate alternative board structures
Establish a joint board committee to develop a new Board structure
Develop criteria established by the two Hospital Boards.
Develop alternatives to be presented to each Board.

Joint Education Sessions

To develop a joint education plan that includes staff and Board.

Complete needs assessment for both facilities
Establish annual program and budget.
Reach out to other Hospitals and service providers.

Centralize responsibility for education.
